Still, I Choose to Trust

Have you ever watched a plan slowly fall apart — not with a loud crash, but through silence, delays, and unanswered questions? I have.

As I grow older, I’m realizing how much of life is beyond my control. And in those moments, trusting God doesn’t always come easily — especially when life keeps happening. As people say these days, life is lifeing.

So when life lifes, I choose to trust.

Last month marked my 21st marriage anniversary. I had been looking forward to travelling to Dubai with my husband, not just to celebrate, but also to have one of the lost precious stones on my wedding ring replaced, given that it was custom-made in the same Region. I had waited for this chance for one whole year.

When the opportunity finally came — my husband had a work assignment in Dubai — it felt perfectly aligned. We applied for our visas together. His was approved. Mine was delayed.

Though this wasn’t going to be my first time in Dubai. I had been there multiple times.

Eventually, my husband had to travel, of course, for work. He went, returned, and my visa status remained unchanged. The plan I had held onto quietly slipped away.

I was disappointed. A bit confused. Dubai Visa? Strange.

In search for understanding, I began to reflect.

We were planning to leave our 16-year-old son home alone for an entire week — something we had never done before. Even though everything looked fine on the surface, I did have an unsettling feeling in my heart that I chose to ignore and suppress.

What if the delay wasn’t just disappointment? What if it was protection?

Sometimes God’s silence isn’t absence — it’s care. Sometimes the closed door isn’t rejection — it’s protection we only recognize in hindsight.

There are many things I cannot control. But these two things I can: Choosing and Trusting.

I can choose, and I can trust. So, I choose to trust God.

I choose trust over frustration. Peace over worry. Faith over fear.

I Choose to Trust.
